What Do You See? | Song | Wild Animals by Dream English Kids

If you’re looking for an introduction to different wild animals for your class, this would be perfect. It covers a wide range of different animals. With the help of the video, you can show the kids what their names are and what they look like. If you’re teaching smaller children, you can play a game where you run away from the scary animals like they do in the video. Show a picture of an animal and ask the children what its name is and whether they should stay or run away. Then let the kids all have a turn choosing an animal too.

The Animal Song by Maple Leaf Learning

What does an elephant do? And a koala? This is such a fun song and one of my favorites that I use every year in my classes. Kids love doing the fun actions and singing along with it. It is a great way for them to associate different animals with the different actions. Adapt the song to the animals and actions you want to teach in your class. Alternatively, ask the class to add some more animals and their actions. Then play an action game where one child does the action and the others have to guess the animal.

Animal Habitats Song by Monte Selby and 2nd Grade Mabel I. Wilson Elementary School

This is a really good song to show children different habitats where animals live and how they have adapted to living there. You could use it as part of a larger project about animals around the world or different climates. Make a huge world map poster with your class and give groups the job to find out about the different habitats and countries. Then they can illustrate them with the animals that live there. Older children could prepare a presentation in English to the class about an animal and describe its habitat and why it is suited to living there.

Jungle Animals Song by The Kiboomers

What animals live in the jungle? And what actions do they do? Can the kids in your class growl like a tiger or snap like a crocodile? Can they guess what animal you are when you do the actions? Adapt a Simon says game to be different animals and let everyone have a turn. Or play a memory game with flashcards. Make the children do the actions when they find a pair of matching animals and remember its name.

The Jungle Song by KidsCamp – Education

Off we go to the jungle again to find out about the animals that live there and the sounds they make. What can you hear in the jungle? I can hear a monkey? Create an imaginary walk through the jungle and either make the animal sounds or play recordings and ask the children to tell you what they can hear. Then let them invent their own trip into the jungle and act it out with different children playing the animals.

Forest Dance | Animal Song for Kids by Maple Leaf Learning

One of the few songs that shows forest animals, this is another fun song for younger students to learn their names. Maybe you could go for a walk outdoors in a real forest or park and see some of these animals with your class. Or make your classroom into a forest and decorate it with trees and plants before going on a classroom forest safari. You could do a forest scavenger hunt too to see what else you find in a forest as well as animals.

Arctic Animals Song for Children by TurnOnYourEnglish

There aren’t many songs about animals in the Arctic available. So this would be useful if you are learning about animals in winter or cold weather and how animals live in the snow. You could compare them with animals that live in hot climates to see how they are different. Again, if you’ve got a big map, always a useful bit of classroom equipment, you can show the kids where these animals live and pin flashcards or draw them on the map. Plan a trip to the Arctic to visit the animals: What do you need to take? What will the weather be like? How can you spot the animals? Then write up your expedition and what you saw there.

Animals in the Ocean by The Kiboomers

I love teaching about animals that you can find in the sea as there is such a lot of good material to use. This is probably the best general song about ocean animals to introduce them to your class. If you want a lesson plan to use with this song, this one is useful. It will teach your class all about the names and appearance of the different sea creatures and how they live under the oceans. I also love doing craft in these classes. Sea animals are so easy and fun to make and they look great hanging up in the classroom.

Learn Animals For Kids: Out in the Desert by HiDino Kids Songs

Another category where it’s hard to find songs: desert animals. The desert is really interesting to learn about and there are lots of weird and wonderful animals who your class can meet in this song. As with the Arctic animals, talk about the special features the desert animals have to help them live in this harsh environment. Learn about their food and how they cope with little water and very hot weather.

Endangered animals song for children | Animals in danger by Johnny & the Raindrops

Last of all, this is a wonderful song if you are learning about the environment and different endangered species. It is easy enough to sing along with the chorus and would be a good song for a show for parents or other classes. It is a great way to start children thinking about the different issues regarding the environment and animals who are endangered. You could use it a departure point for a whole project about this issue and make classroom art to show the different animals. For older classes, it could be interesting for them to research this and practice writing letters to governments or researching environmental organizations to see how they can participate.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this selection of EFL ESL Wild Animals songs for children.
