Knock Knock Trick or Treat by Super Simple Songs

Let’s start off with a very non-scary song that is perfect even for the smallest children. What costume will you be dressing up in for Halloween? Cowboys, witches, spacemen, ballerinas, there is plenty of vocabulary here to learn. If you’re holding your own class Halloween class party, this is perfect to introduce the different costumes. You can of course adapt it to the costumes in your class or your children’s favorite Halloween characters. You could also play a game where each child has to mime their character while the rest sing the song and then have to guess the costume.

Halloween Stomp by The Singing Walrus

This is a fun song to sing and dance along with at your Halloween party. Do the actions and then all join in with the chorus. Play an action game to practice the action verbs: Maybe Simon says howl or something similar. Alternatively you could get the class to ask questions to one child like “do you crawl? do you howl?” and then guess what they are. A great way to introduce the different creatures you might find in a haunted house or other spooky places.

Halloween Finger Family by Bounce Patrol Kids

Learn about different Halloween characters in this version of the song which all of your children will probably be familiar with. If you could get hold of some Halloween finger puppets, that would be even better. Don’t forget to do lots of actions to help the kids remember each finger and make this into a fun dance for your class.

Five Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate by The Kiboomers

Practice counting pumpkins with this spooky Halloween number song. Lots of opportunities for spooky sound effects and actions. You could make this into a story game with five children pretending to be the five pumpkins and the others as witches flying around the pumpkins before they roll away, one at a time.

Hello It’s Halloween by Bud Bud Buddies Nursery Rhymes

Watch out! The monsters are out! This song is a bit more scary so probably better for older classes. It would be fun to learn the song and act it out in class with all the different characters. If you think the song is too difficult for your class to learn, just use the chorus. Get your kids to design a Halloween poster and describe all the different people and what they are doing. Or write a scary story with your class and then act it out.

Ten Scary Steps by Katie Cutie Kids TV

Another song that might be a bit too scary for very little children. It’s based on the Little Red Riding Hood character so you could use it as part of a lesson plan about that as well as at Halloween. You could make up a counting game where the kids have to throw a dice or choose a number and move ahead a number of steps. Who will they meet at each scary step? Who will be the first to get to Grandma’s house without being caught?

Halloween Night – Little Blue Globe Band by Toddler World TV

What can you see when you’re walking down the street on Halloween night? This has an easy to sing chorus and you could adapt it to any Halloween creatures that you want. What can the kids see in the classroom? Maybe you could make Halloween decorations to hang up around the classroom and then sing the song together.

Spooky Monsters Under the Bed?! by Annie and Ben Official Channel

Are there any monsters hiding under your bed? A Halloween version of the Five monkeys jumping on the bed, this is a fun counting song and a good way to show that monsters aren’t always scary. Ask the kids to draw the monsters that live under their beds and give them names. Let the children pretend to be the monsters coming out from under the bed and count them together.

Five Little Spooky Ghosts by Maple Leaf Learning

A silly Halloween song about overeating ghosts, this is a fun way to practice counting down from 5 to zero. Can your class make up a silly Halloween song or story? Something a bit different from the usual Halloween stories? They could make and illustrate a story and tell it to the rest of the class.

Who Took the Candy? by Super Simple Songs

This is a fun game to play at a Halloween party with your class. Can the kids guess who took the candy from the trick or treat bag? Adapt it to your class and their costumes and let each child have a turn at guessing and at hiding the candy. You can play this with all ages and levels and everyone will enjoy it.
