What Do You Do Every Day? by Maple Leaf Learning

This is a great way to start asking questions about daily routines and what the kids in your class do every day. It teaches a short list of everyday activities that most children will be familiar with. You could use the clapping action and chant in the video to ask the question to your class and get the conversation going. You could then play a memory chain game. Ask each child to add an activity to the chain and make it more difficult as it goes around the class. This would be a great way of learning as many different activities as possible. When you’ve done this, you can sing the song again with all the activities you’ve learned.

However, it’s also a fantastic one to sing with older kids as they can turn it into a rap and adapt it to their own routines. Challenge them to invent another verse with more activities they do. Or change the time of day and make it into what they do before they go to bed in the evening. You could adapt this song in lots of ways and use it as a launching point for many different activities.

My Busy Day by Kokopellienglish

This song looks at the different activities we do in the morning before going to school and then in the evening before going to bed. You could use it as a launching point for older children about telling the time, morning and evening and what they do at different times. You could ask them to write a description or act out all the different activities they do during the day. It could also be used as a simple way of learning about the present and past tenses: what I do every day and what I did yesterday. You could sing it using either the present tense or past tense.

You could also use it at the end of a lesson to ask the kids what they did in the lesson. “We drew a picture” or “We sang a song”. If you want an activity to go along with this, you could ask your class to draw a picture of all the things they did the day before and then sing the song again using the picture as a prompt.

Daily Routine Song for Kids – All in A Day by ELF Kids Videos

Unusually, this song goes through the whole day, including time at school which most songs seem to leave out. It is a good chanting song to repeat actions and is easy to pick up and adapt to other things that your class might do during the day. See if all the children have the same routine. Is there anyone that does things differently? Put the kids in groups to ask questions to each other and practice the vocabulary.
